I'm planning my vacation for next year but I would like to avoid the busiest times during ski season. Can you ski/snowboard in early November? Or is it best to wait until January and after?
I would definitely say March is the best month to ski in Coloroado. March gets the most snow and has the biggest snow base. Plus, the weather is usually warm and sunny compared to other months. The only catch is that the ski areas can be crowded due to spring break. However, I still love skiing in March. February is a close second and would be a good choice if you want to avoid the spring break crowd.
Early November is not the best time to ski because there is not yet much snow and a lot of the terrain may not be open. January is hit or miss depending on the snow base, January was amazing this year, but that's not always the case.
I'd stick to March or February.

March is best in terms of snow conditions — that's when there's a huge base, a lot of powder (Colorado gets more snow in March than any other month), and the weather is pleasant most days.
But in terms of being alone on the slopes, what matters most is what time of the week you go. Weekends are busy all year round, weekdays are not.
I wouldn't ski in November. The snow just isn't as good then. Utah is better that time of year.

From what I am seeing probably Jan – March are your best bets….. however this year was a good year. There has been good skiing all season! YAY!

Mid Feb to Mid March are the best in terms of snow and weather – snows a lot but not so cold. January is short, cold days and November snow is very iffy.

January, December, or February. Those are the best times to go. I've lived in Colorado all my life. Born and raised here.
