1) American recruitment poster; includes 4 men and a giant canon. Reads: These men have COME ACROSS , they are at the front NOW. JOIN THEM, ENLIST in the NAVY.
2) Second poster is advertising a fragrance for men, on one side there is a man ski diving, on the other side the fragrance reads 'Extreme' Polo SPORT. Ralph Lauren.

This isn't a specific question for 'Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered etc' so you would probably get a more diverse and representative response in a different section. You might even want to try a psychology section,
I think most guys would like to be somewhat more 'masculine' as they are aware of their own insecurities, even if others aren't. There are those who feel a need to prove their own masculinity, to themselves and others, which often fuels ridiculous confrontation/competition between macho 'freaks' who over-play it.
Do these adverts reinforce masculinity? Yes, somewhat and also reinforce insecurities, like twig-like models drive people to believe they are too fat etc. It's almost impossible to become a fantasy that is depicted in advertisements, which is the part of the psychology of advertising – helping to create the belief that Product X will achieve the marketing driven fantasy that could be someone's reality-gotta buy the product first though.
The perfect skin, body, lifestyle can all be yours, if you just buy this now. Shamelessly breeding continuous insecurity.
Good luck! Rob

What is this question doing in the gay section. I don't think that the army would be too pleased to be associated with [BLEEP]
