Whether you are looking for a one-stop ski destination or a resort close to Colorado’s other great ski opportunities, Keystone is the perfect place for your next winter getaway. The Keystone Resort ski area has three separate mountains and is a short drive away from Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Vail, meaning everything you need for a relaxing and memorable ski vacation is just a stone’s throw away. Make your way to Keystone for your next trip and experience all the fun and excitement of a truly spectacular snow-filled vacation.
The Keystone Resort is the place to head for some world-class skiing on over 2,000 acres of terrain. The mountains here are truly accommodating as 19 percent of the trails are rated beginner, 32 percent advanced, and 49 percent are rated difficult for those who can handle steep slopes and extreme bends. No matter how long you have been skiing, whether this is your first season or your twentieth, you can fill your vacation with exciting ski and snowboarding entertainment in Keystone.
Keystone’s three mountains, North Peak, The Outback, and The Windows, each offer different opportunities for a thrilling ride. North Peak has moguls that will give you a challenging and bumpy ride, The Outback is perfect for those who want to glide across fresh powder, and The Windows is ideal for anyone who wants to take a few risks off the beaten path. Throw in the sheer excitement of night skiing in the A51 terrain park and a dazzling assortment of bowls, bumps, trees, and rollers, and you have the makings of a once in a lifetime ski adventure.
If you feel like testing your ski mettle against your friends or simply want to see how you stack up, sign up for a couple of races to see how fast you really are down the hill. You can race against yourself or head down the dual course with a friend to determine who really is the fastest and the most precise. Or, if you really want to push yourself, try racing against Olympic times and see how you measure up against other racers in your age group with the NASTAR program.
When you are ready to pack up your skis and simply soak in the breathtaking beauty that surrounds you, hop aboard a snowcat for a ride through the back mountains of the resort. Catch sight of the Continental Divide, the Ten Mile Range, and the Gore Range as you trek over the stunning terrain and relax with your family and friends. If sitting back is not your style, hitch a ride on a snowcat to make your way to one of Keystone’s steep and exciting bowls. You’ll be standing on a ridge line at 12,000 feet and all you need to do is drop in for the most thrilling ride over untouched powder that you will ever experience.
Keystone also offers a variety of other winter activities to fill your vacation and allow for the most memorable winter adventure of your life. Head to the summit of Dercum Mountain, climb in your tube, and feel the rush of the steep pitch, high-banked runs, and extensive runout. Interested in something a little off the beaten path? Try a snowbiking or snowcycling excursion and set out on a guided tour of Keystone’s gorgeous land. In addition to these great activities, you can also find snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating, sleigh rides, and much more so you never have an excuse for a dull moment during your trip.
A winter vacation in Keystone will be exactly what you make of it so get the most out of your trip by choosing accommodations that allow you to not only enjoy the great outdoors but also experience the stunning beauty of the Keystone landscape. Keystone vacation rentals are surrounded by the towering mountains and pines so every glance out your window gives you a breathtaking view of the excitement that awaits outdoors. And when you are ready to hit the slopes, your day’s adventure is only a short ride or walk away. Choose Keystone rentals for your next trip so you can enjoy all the fun and excitement of a winter vacation wonderland.

Which is the better place (all around) for ski vacation – Keystone or Steamboat, Colorado?
Planning a ski vacation and would like to know, from others' experience, which is better overall for skiing quality, lifts, # of runs and overall location, Keystone or Steamboat, Colorado.
Thank you!!
Steamboat – more area, better snow, further from Denver (means less "day" skiers – hence, less crowded), not on the side of an Interstate Highway (I-70 goes right by Keystone).

Steamboat is much better, More area, and less crowded.

Doesn't matter. Just pick one, and you'll be fine. As long as there's snow, it's on.

Steamboat, definitely. It's such a friendly atmosphere and great skiing. Not that you cold go wrong with Colorado skiing… but I would pick Steamboat over Keystone any day

If I only had a couple of days I would go to Steamboat. If I had a week I would pick Keystone because it is closer to Denver and there are a lot of things you can do there on the days you aren't skiing. On ski vacations I ski hard the days I am skiing, but I can't ski 7 days in a row.

I love Steamboat for the quality of snow, the variety of runs (though the xx runs are pretty hairy!) the town, the food, the beauty, and the people.
Keystone does offer many other ski resorts at close proximity
(Breakenridge, Vail, Arapaho, Copper mnt.) It does get damn cold there though!

I have skied both and I would have to say Steamboat. It has great runs of every type. If you are looking for a cruiser, tomahawk is great. For a great tree run: closet. For great steeps the chutes are great. steamboat has a bigger area with several more runs and lifts. also, steamboat has been making improvements all summer while i was there and it will make going up the mountain even easier. getting to steamboat is easy because airlines like delta and american fly there. the extra couple hour drive is worth it to get there if coming from the denver area. also, the powder there is the best i have ever skied

Would you be mad if I suggested Utah? Best snow here by far. And you can ski 8-10 world class resorts all within an hours drive.
Anyways, of the two you mentioned, probably Steamboat….but really, consider Utah if you have never been. Colorado doesn't hold a candle to the terrain of Alta/Snowbird.

I ski at Alta.
