I'm interested in gettting to the north pole manually, by dog sled, ski, etc. from the Canadian side. Also, I understand that global warming has made the passage riskier and the season for travelling shorter. Anyone have advice? How long should I plan for it to take, and what is the best way to set up resupplies?

Your length of time depends on your rate of travel. Your rate of travel depends on your method of travel. One of the better ways I've heard of, but also slightly risky, is to use skis and a parachute/kite to propel yourself. I'm not sure if this would work from the canadian side, but I don't see why it wouldn't. This would also allow you to pull your gear along behind you in some kind of fortified sled.
