Stop feeling guilty! It is your free time. You need to do what you want to do, not just hang out with your family because you feel like you have to. Tell your mom you'll come for a weekend or something, but you're going to stay home during your vacation time because you have bla bla bla to do around the house/apartment, etc. I'm sure you can make up a decent excuse without lying to her outright.

It's normal to feel guilty, but if this is what you want to do, by all means go for it. It's your vacation time, and there is so little of it, you should really use it to enjoy yourself and get rest.

Spend time with your Mom and try to enjoy it. You should be happy she's still on this earth. One day she won't be and think of the guilt that you will feel then. It's only 1 week of your vacation you still have 2 weeks to do whatever you want (Lay around and do nothing).

You know what you should not feel guilty about staying at YOUR house on YOUR vacation!!! But you know I have a MOM just like yours. My mom makes feel so quilty about everything!!! You do what YOU want toooooo!!! For a change.

I say, "To each his own" Everyone has their own opinion on how vacation time should be spent. I took vacation time too like you did because I needed it. If i didnt, I think I would have went off on someone at work or on the phones and get fired.
-If you feel that you need time off, TAKE IT- its yours.

I take vacation time and stay at home as much as I can. I always turn off the phone that way I'm not bothered by people calling. If they show up, I pretend I'm not home and I don't open that door.
