   For the sake of approx £30-£40 for the insurrance, I would pay that than possibly the medical bills in a foreign country.

   Yes it's only about £35.00 and well worth it, have you seen what they get up to on these trips….I would never send one of mine the Teachers are on the p iss and so are most of the kids,…other than that hope he has a good time

   Over here in Ireland, if its too late for the EHIC card then we go to the place were we pply and hand in the from and they give us a cover note.

   If you do have to get the insurance, ask how much a yearly cover is sometimes its only a couple of quid dearer and lasts the year.
   I was charged €80 for 3 days travel insurance for myself, but then invested in a yearly policy for my family and it was only €100.

   Shop around for it!!

   If you apply online for the card it only takes a day or two to arrive and it's free. So it's worth applying even if you take out extra insurance as a precaution, it depends how soon you are going away.
