As an experienced skier I feel daft asking this but I'm going skiing on the glacier in Tignes next week and I'm not sure what temperature/conditions to expect. I presume that as with Winter Skiing, conditions can change but what are the range of temperatures I can expect? Should I expect to wear full ski gear most of the time and sometimes tie my jacket round my waist – or should I expect to see most people in t-shirts ? Thanks

Although I've never ridden Tignes, I have done my fair share of Summer Skiing and Boarding. First thing, don't forget the sun screen. The summer sun will be intense regardless of the temperature. I'd say you'd be correct in assuming that you can expect just about any condition but I would lean toward warmer than colder. I would never ski in just a T-Shirt as slushy snow is very abrasive and will give you some good road-rash if you were to fall. Also, long sleeves are good protection against the sun, did I mention that the summer sun can be very intense? I good set of breathable spring gloves designed mainly to protect your hands than to keep them warm or dry are a good investment. Any kind of light weight waterproof layers are a good idea as the snow conditions will most likely be very wet but the temperatures will be too warm for a heavy jacket.

That is a ten day forecast which expects temperatures from 0c (32f) up to 18c (65f), which isn't too warm.

Have fun, I'm super jealous
